Jan 2012 - Pentek Debuts First in a Family of Virtex-7 FPGA SDR Modules

Pentek have introduced their first member of the NEW high-performance SDR Onyx family, the Model 71760. The 4-channel, 200 MHz A/D XMC module is based on the Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA family and is similar to the Cobalt 71660, but has twice the memory capacity and I/O bandwidth, addressing the most challenging unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), radar and communication applications.

Sept 2011 - NEW Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA Family

The newest generation of FPGA from Xilinx is the Series 7. It consists of three families each targeting specific price/performance spaces. The Artix-7 family addresses low cost, low power, high volume applications. The Kintex-7 family offers a 2X boost in performance over the Virtex-6 devices. Virtex-7 offers the highest performance of the three families with twice the performance and twice the resources of the Virtex-6.

All Series-7 devices feature low-power 28 nm process technology to implement up to 3.1 Tbits/sec of I/O and over 2 million logic cells. They provide up to 6.7 TMACs of DSP resources, especially important for software radio applications. Because of new process technologies and other power management schemes, they consume half the power of Virtex-6 for a given function.

The WANic 6354 is a high performance Packet Processor based on the Cavium OCTEON II multi-core processor. Ideal for IP communications networks, this Packet Processor can be configured to enable a wide variety of applications such as demanding wire-speed communications for secure IP access, network encryption, network monitoring and Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). The WANic 6354 provides a 6-core OCTEON II CN6335-AAP Applications Acceleration Processor wth 2MB of shared L2 cache memory, delivering up to 4 Gb/s line-speed packet processing for Layers 2-7. Up to 4GB of high-speed DDR3 memory is implemented using VLP Mini-RDIMM modules. Also, 512MB of DDR3 SDRAM is implemented for Regular Expression pattern matching engine memory (HFA/DFA). 32MB of SDRAM is available for use as Persistent Memory in storing processor state information. Up to 16GB of eUSB Flash Disk are optional for bulk memory storage (2GB standard).

June 2010 - OpenVPX (TM) System Specification Standard Reaches ANSI Ratification

VPX is now gaining design wins in many data-intensive applications where performance in throughput and high-compute density (size) are critical factors. Example applications in which VPX systems are expected to be deployed in the coming year include signal and video processing, radar, communications, transportation, and control and management.

Pentek is introducing 14 products in their new family of 3U VPX boards for data acquisition, software radio and digital signal processing. These new boards offer flexible backplane fabric connections supporting maximum data rates of up to 4 GB/sec with Generation 2 PCI Express and 2.5 GB/sec with other protocols. The 3U VPX form factor is compact and extremely well suited for avionics, including UAVs, shipboard and airborne radar and signal intelligence applications.

Jan 2010 - GE Intelligent Platforms New Branding is Announced

On December 11, 2009, the agreement to dissolve the GE Fanuc Automation joint venture was finalized. The company is now operating independently under the new name GE Intelligent Platforms. In this new phase the company will continue to invest and focus on providing industry-leading technology products and solution platforms.

Dec 2009 - New Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA XMC Module Introduced

Pentek introduces its 71620, a multichannel, high-speed data converter XMC module suitable for connection to HF or IF ports for communications, radar, telemetry and medical systems. Nov 2009 - GE and FANUC Complete Joint Venture Dissolution

GE and FANUC Ltd have announced that the two companies have completed their agreement to dissolve the GE Fanuc Automation Corporation Joint Venture. This agreement reverts the respective portions of the joint venture back to the parent company and allows each company to focus on its existing business and pursue growth in its respective core industry or expertise. The two companies signed the final agreement in Chicago and will now operate independently as GE Intelligent Platforms and FANUC LTD.

Sept 2009 - Pentek Introduces New Dual Channel 12-bit 500MHz PMC/XMC Transceiver Module.

This latest module is well suited for high-speed, wideband applications including remote radar countermeasures, tracking and UAV surveillance. The Model 7158 is a dual channel highspeed data converter, comprising two 12-bit 500 MHz ADCs and two 16-bit 800MHz DACs as a complete software radio interface solution.
